I hope this message finds you all doing well as we head into the busy holiday season. I am pleased to share the latest edition of Hino Express, which will cover many activities over the past few months. My business travels have taken me to various events and meetings nationwide. I’ve had special opportunities to connect with many of you in person to hear firsthand how TICF can be the best partner for you and your customers.

In October, I had the privilege of visiting with the leadership at Hino Motor Sales (HMS) in Novi, MI, along with the sales leadership from TICF and Toyota Material Handling’s forklift sales group. We discussed ways of better connecting our strategies and future initiatives to partner with our dealers and customers. We focused on how we support you in today’s environment to fulfill orders in the pipeline. Then, the conversation moved to customer loyalty, future conquest, and how to support electrification and other new initiatives that are part of our ever-changing evolution as a group. In the spirit of the One Toyota Group, it was a wonderful day of conversation, and we look forward to the ongoing collaboration between our collective teams.

Mike Schultze

In this issue, I am excited for you to read more about our steadfast partnership with Michael Lynch, Lynch Truck Center, and learn more about his commitment to Hino Dealers as the new Chairperson of the Hino Dealer Advisory Council.

As we work on initiatives, we always approach every business decision with a mindset on Kaizen or continuous improvement. The recent “Inflation Buster” program initiative received a positive response and provided the opportunity to close more deals, with a highly competitive rate. Based on the success of this program and our commitment to the dealer network, we will continue to identify and develop other program opportunities soon. Stay tuned over the coming weeks and months as more details become available.

We hope you find the newly released Dealer Financial Services Quick Reference Guide helpful in your day-to-day business efficiencies with TICF. In addition, the article, Meet the Credit Team, will give you some insight into the team’s primary responsibilities, how they work closely with dealers like you, and how they strive to offer tailored and creative financing solutions to support your long-term dealership needs.

Lastly, as we prepare for the holiday season, thank you for your ongoing commitment and partnership. Together, we can continue to drive success and make a lasting impact. If you have any questions, suggestions, or general feedback to help us succeed as One Toyota, please don’t hesitate to contact us or any member of the TICF Team. We are all here to help you grow.

A Steadfast Partnership

Lynch Truck Center

The 1950s marked a transformative era as the nation witnessed a remarkable economic prosperity and industrial development surge, sparking a renewed enthusiasm for the open road. The Lynch Family of Dealerships was on the cutting edge, and since then, the family has evolved to expand into meeting the needs of the growing commercial sector. Today, the Lynch Truck Center, with locations in Waterford, Wisconsin, Sheridan, Colorado, and Chicago, Illinois, is one of the largest commercial, fleet, and tow truck suppliers in the United States and a loyal Hino dealer.

Michael Lynch, who oversees the Lynch Truck Center, took a circuitous route back to the headquarters. After college, he did a stint with its sister company, LDV, which customizes everything from bookmobiles to medical trucks. Part of the draw was being stationed in Denver, where he could indulge in his passion for skiing whenever possible.

However, his life took an unexpected turn when he received a phone call asking him to return to his hometown in Wisconsin. “I was asked to embark on a new journey, one that involved selling tow trucks,” he recalls, adding that because it was separate from the family’s car business, it was something he could call his own. “Little did I know this decision would be the catalyst for the transformation of our truck center into the thriving business it has become today,” he says. “The evolution of our company has been nothing short of remarkable, and I am immensely proud of our dedicated team that worked tirelessly to turn our vision into a reality.”

Michael has worked with Toyota Industries Commercial Finance (TICF) since becoming a Hino dealer in 2010 and lauds its competitive rates and attractive dealer incentives. “In particular, the inflation buster program was very helpful in saving deals for us these days as interest rate seem to be the hot button,” he notes. “TICF realizes, first and foremost, that business is a two-way street.” As an example, he cites a recent incident when the funding team was able to grant two separate extensions to a customer who had lost a significant account. The assistance provided by the team allowed the customer to recover and get back on their feet.

As the new chairman of the Hino Dealer Advisory Council (DAC), Michael represents the interests of dealers throughout the network and believes that the number one goal for the Council is communication. “The dealers need to know what’s going on, and it’s the Council’s job to handle that,” he says. “We also need to get feedback from the dealer body and express their ideas, both positive and negative, to Hino leadership.”

To that end, recently, he traveled to Japan with the rest of the DAC to engage with Hino’s new global leadership team. He told his fellow Council members, “As partners, it’s crucial that we align our efforts to secure a vibrant future for our brand.” The discussions, which he positions as “productive and positive,” covered a diverse array of important topics, including strategizing on how to make up for lost market share, ideas for getting more inventory, and how to continue to meet the needs of the market related to upcoming regulatory requirements.

TICF looks forward to Michael’s leadership on the DAC and the continuation of a strong, steadfast partnership.

Ease of

Doing Business

At TICF, we always strive to be your partner of choice, and we are excited to roll out a new brochure for you, our valued dealers.

We’re pleased to provide the Dealer Financial Services Quick Reference Guide. In it, you will find answers to frequently asked questions, contact information for our DFS team members, and much more.

Why was this needed? Rich Mueller, Dealer Financial Services Manager, explained, “The Quick Reference Guide started as an information sheet to educate dealer principals and financial managers on the terms and conditions of the Inventory Loan & Security Agreement (ILSA). The scope of the project grew after garnering feedback from our dealers. As a result of our team’s dealer interactions, we were advised to add product information, FAQs related to insurance, AOPs, audit, financial reporting, and the Dealer Access System (DAS Portal).”

You asked, and we have delivered. To add a personal touch, we added pictures of the DFS team with their contact information. We hope you find this new reference guide helpful in your day-to-day business. We encourage your feedback and suggestions on other needed resources – complete the feedback form below!

MEET THE TICF CREDIT TEAM!

We are excited to introduce you to the TICF Credit team. They are committed to serving you, our truck dealers, and are dedicated to going beyond the transaction for our mutual customers. Learn more about the team’s primary responsibilities, how they work closely with dealers like you, and what they are focused on in the spirit of continuous improvement.

The credit team’s primary goal is to ensure the financing experience is as smooth as possible. Here’s a snapshot of their key responsibilities:

  • Servicing Dealers: The team aims to be responsive to dealer requests in a timely manner.
  • Application Review:  Each customer application undergoes a thorough review process to ensure they meet the approval criteria.
  • Building Relationships:  The credit team values creating strong, positive relationships with our dealers, and establishing a foundation for successful partnerships.
  • Overcoming Challenges:  Whether the deal is challenging or intricate, the team does not shy away. They schedule in-person meetings to navigate the complexities and find a solution.
  • Continuous Growth:  They are ardent proponents of skill development and professional growth, ensuring that each associate undertakes mandatory monthly training to enhance their capabilities.
  • Dealer Outreach:  The TICF Credit Analysts reach out to dealers monthly, fostering communication and, at times, participating in joint calls with Regional Sales Managers (RSMs).

The team’s overarching goal is to find innovative ways to structure and finance deals to suit each customer’s needs. As a captive finance provider, we can offer tailored and creative financing solutions.

“Every deal that comes to TICF is important to us. Our mission, as a team and an organization, is to always find a way to put a deal together. We are here for dealers and customers in good times and in bad times too.” — Explained Wes Concienne, Senior Manager – Originations.

When asked how deals could get approved faster, the credit team stressed getting all the needed information for a deal upfront. When TICF has all the information at the beginning, quicker deal approvals can take place. Getting all the information and making sure it is correct is incredibly important for all deals, but especially for complex ones. The team drew a comparison to a puzzle – the more pieces we have, the quicker we can put it all together.

The TICF Credit Team stands ready to support your financial endeavors, bringing a wealth of experience, a penchant for problem-solving, and a commitment to building and fostering strong relationships. If you have questions or need assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out. They are here to serve you!
